Last night was my fun movie night with the girls to watch Anne of Green Gables. If you've never seen it, you definitely must. As a girl, my mom and I read the books together and I've never really had the desire to read them myself, but I think I might be to that point now. I'll have to add it to my TBR pile.
This morning I had to get up right away and start making a cake for my MIL's birthday. Probably six-months or so ago I made this really great cake from My Sister's Kitchen. I don't even know how I came upon it, but it was amazing and so easy! It was the Lemon-Poppy Seed Cake with Almond Cream Cheese Frosting. My MIL made some comment about how great it was and how she wanted it for her birthday.
Let me tell you - the finished product looks just like the picture and everyone thinks you are the most amazing baker ever. Anyway... I got nominated to make dessert for our get-together today and since we are celebrating her birthday, I remembered her comment and I'm making it again.
I'm blogging now because my layers are cooling and then down again I go to the kitchen to make the frosting and finish up the cake.
Tomorrow, of course, is Father's Day (don't forget!). I still need to stop and buy my dad something, although I do have his card already. I think after church we are going to my parents for dinner, so it least I won't be in charge of doing any baking for that!

I am trying to avoid baking as much as possible right now. My hips can't take it...lol
