Preparations

Well, I'm currently procrastinating my housecleaning by blogging. =)

I just got back from shopping for Father's Day (don't forget that's this Sunday!) and my Anne of Green Gables movie night tomorrow night.

First on the list: Water Purifier from Cableas
We are fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it) enough to live only about 15 minutes from Cableas and my Big Guy is an avid hunter, so we make lots of trips there. Although I gag at the prices, it's always kinda fun to go there because they have neat displays and stuff.
So, as soon as my Little Guy and I walk into the store - he starts clapping! Apparently he is his father's son and that place gives him great joy. We hadn't even gotten to the good parts with the waterfall and aquarium!
Anyway... found our water purifier $89.99 (gag!) - check!

Next: Groceries from Wal-Mart
Okay... I don't know (or care) what people think of Wal-Mart. But I don't really love it or hate it. I probably wouldn't shop there that much if I had lots of money, but I don't, so I shop there when I'm out that direction.
So.... here's my menu for Anne of Green Gables movie night:
  • Tea & tea biscuits
  • Raspberry cordial
  • Chicken Salad Sandwiches - made by my good friend Leah
  • Plum Puffs - made by my other good friend Stephanie
  • Cream Cheese Sandwiches
  • Shortbread
  • Thumbprint Cookies - made by my cousin Stephanie
  • Sponge Cake - made by my mom
Okay...so seriously... there's only going to be like seven or eight of us, but I think we're going to have a feast! So... I had to buy lots of cream cheese, lemons and raspberries (for the cordial), a strainer and miscellaneous stuff like butter to make that feast with.

Ever wonder what Raspberry Cordial is exactly?? I found this recipe at Island-Flower.com
2 pkg of frozen raspberries
1 1/4 cups sugar
4 cups boiling water
2 lemons

In saucepan add sugar to frozen raspberries and cook for 20-25 minutes, until sugar has dissolved. Then mash the mixture thoroughly. Pour the mixture through a strainer and discard pulp. Add the strained juice of two lemons. Stir. Add the 4 cups of boiling water. Let cool, then refrigerate.
