Book Summary (from the back cover):
Since Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has so few living relatives, she hates to lose one - even her cousin Hadley, undead consort of the vampire Queen of Louisiana. Hadley's left everything she has to Sookie, but claiming that inheritance has a high risk factor. Some people don't want her looking to deeply into Hadley's past, or Hadley's possessions. And they're prepared to do anything in their power to stop her. Whoever it is, they're definitely dangerous - and Sookie's life is definitely on the line...
My Review:
I took a little break between the last Sookie Stackhouse novel and this one and I was afraid I was not going to be able to get back into the story, but I was sucked in pretty quickly (no pun intended!). I'm not really sure Charlaine Harris can keep my from getting totally annoyed with Sookie's naivete, but somehow she makes Sookie gulible without seeming like a total idoit. In this novel in particular, Sookie seems to be realizing just how gulible she is around the supernatural world and makes some attempts to not repeat former mistakes.
I'm pretty happy with the way her love life is going. For Bill lovers, this book is going to be a disapointment, but as I've said in previous reviews, he fell out of favor with me a long time ago, so I'm just as happy to have another wedge between them to keep her from going back to him. I like the weretiger Quinn A LOT! haha I have a feeling there might be something lurking about him that we don't know yet, but I like him enough that I hope it's not too bad. But I'm also on the fence about Eric - I'm torn about whether I'd like Sookie to end up with him or not.... mmmmm..... guess I'll have to wait to see how that all plays out. In the end, I think I'd prefer she end up with a were-something over a vampire since they can be alive during the day. Okay... enough rambling on about that aspect...
I also really enjoyed the introduction of Amelia and was glad that she's going to be in more books. Sookie needs so girl friends who understand her life a little better (unlike Arlene or Tara) and can be a little supportive.
Sooo... I really liked this book, and I'm looking forward to reading about the vampire summit in the next one!
